Turkish Airlines Open

The European Tour returns to Turkey for another Turkish Airlines Open, held at the Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort. The event is scheduled to commence between the 2nd and 5th November in the beautiful turkish region of Belek - Antalya. Some of European Tour’s best players will be teeing of, but the defending champion Thorbjørn Olesen will try to fend them off and secure a second consecutive victory.

The Carya Golf course is a world renowned venue that boosts a magnificent championship course. It’s layout was designed to satisfy even the most advanced players. Theatrical holes with corridors made of impressive treelines are challenging to play and often require a very strategic approach. This 7223 yards longs par-72 course stretches over 260 acres and tightly borders the Mediterranean sea. Together with its 5-star Regnum Spa Resort it not only forms the ideal golfing experience, but also offers the highest level of luxury and comfort one can imagine. Apart from the Carya Golf course, this resort houses one more fantastic golf course, the National. Equally beautiful but it presents a different challenge with a unique twist.

This year, visitors of the Turkish Airlines Open can expect golf of the highest level. Apart from Thorbjørn Olesen, Martin Kaymer, Justin Rose, Henrik Stenson and Matt Kuchar have all confirmed their appearance and hopefully more big names will follow soon. No doubt that the battle for the prize money of over US$7 million will have epic proportions. Although the Carya Golf course is difficult and challenging, last year the winner has managed to finish with a total score of -20. An enviable accomplishment and also a benchmark for this year’s winner.

For the second year players will play the 16th hole off the rooftop of the well-known Baron Villa at Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort. This is a surprise that attracts many spectators but also gives the players a different, more urban feel.

Although the official start of the Turkish Airlines Open is on the 2nd November, visitors can get a preview already on the 1st November when the players will play their third practice round and the second round of the Pro-Am event. Prior to that the venue will be closed for two days due to practice rounds and a private Pro-Am. The official first tee time is scheduled for 10:15 am on the 2nd but visitors can enter at 9:00 am to watch the world’s best golf players warm up on the driving range. The closing ceremony will begin immediately after the last putt is sunk on the 5th November, which usually happens around 16:30 pm, if there is no sudden death play.

Without a doubt, the fifth Turkish Airlines Open will be a top golfing event. Amazing players will gather at the scenic Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort to compete for a prestigious prize. Spectators can once again expect flawless organisation and an incredible golf performance.
